El día viernes 10 de mayo los profesores del Departamento de Inglés de
nuestro colegio Mr. Raymond Pinar y Miss Gloria Droguett, coordinadora del Departamento, fueron invitados a la exposición “INTERCULTURAL
PRAGMATICS AND LANGUAGE TEACHING” realizada en el hotel Plaza El
Bosque San Sebastián. La expositora, Dra. Joan Cutting (Senior Lecturer, Moray House School of Education, IETL, University of Edimburgh), expuso sobre papel que juega la pragmática en las prácticas de los estudiantes de idiomas de mediar entre sus propios entendimientos culturales y los de la cultura objetivo. Examinó brevemente las experiencias de los estudiantes sobre las diferencias culturales en el uso del lenguaje y las formas en que los estudiantes desarrollan ideas sobre la naturaleza culturalmente determinada del lenguaje en uso.Como colegio nos sentimos honrados en participar en estas instancias decamaradería y de intercambio de conocimientos para acercar a nuestros alumnos al idioma inglés.

Mr. Raymond Pinar and Miss Gloria Droguett, Coordinator of the
Department, were invited to the exhibition «INTERCULTURAL PRAGMATICS
AND LANGUAGE TEACHING» held at the Plaza El Bosque San Sebastián hotel.
The speaker, Dr. Joan Cutting (Senior Lecturer, Moray House School of
Education, IETL, ??University of Edinburgh), spoke on the role that pragmatics plays in language learners’ practices of mediating between their own cultural understandings and those of the target culture. It examined learners’ experiences of cultural differences in language use and the ways in which learners develop insights into the culturally determined nature of language in use.
As a school we are honored to participate in these instances of camaraderie
and knowledge exchange to bring our students to the English language.
